I checked with Sopers and Rybrook BMW parts departments and they both quoted £109.19 per sensor. I then took the car out for a longer test drive myself and after about 5 miles the fault reappeared.Ĥ. They did a short test drive of about 1 mile and then discussed the fault codes, explained what they had done and advised that it was likely that the fault would return and quoted me for 2 brand new DSC pressure sensors with 30 minutes for fitting and bleeding the brakes.ģ. Took the car in to Autotech and they did a diagnostic check and cleared the fault codes.Ģ. Anyway your car is sorted now over £200 on 2 sensors I think I will stick with £20 ones You got to a specialist you pay special prices I guess.
Must have x ray eyes but turned out to be a £80 window regulator not £500 they quoted. She bought her bmw X3 around and they hadn't even taken the door card off to look. Reminds me of the so called bmw specialist in Birmingham who quoted my sister £500 for new window motor. The fact this garage tried to reset the light and send you off was bad enough without doing an diagnostic check first. No offense dude but these sensors are like £20 the fact you have a sig with 2 z4 in it and cant change a simple sensor is alarming Tbhĭo u still have the part numbers so I can get a quote from our parts supplier im sure ive seen DSC pressure sensors for £20 In future, please don't start waffling about being ripped off etc before understanding what is being referred to and the actual work / parts that was done. The sensors that were replaced were the DSC pressure sensors on the individual front & rear brake circuits under the brake master cylinder and from Sopers they cost £109.19 each.

The diagnostics / checks were done last week as it happens and I was shown the full results and had a long discussion as to the faults and the way ahead! If you paid attention, you'd realise that I was refering DSC warning lights and DSC pressure sensors and not ABS sensors! The sensor is just a matter of taking your wheel off and unplugging the sensor my 6 year old daughter could do it if I showed her which size socket fits the bolt to undo it. I'd be curious to know what their labour rates are as I work for Volvo in Walsall we are a proper dealer and charge £65 per hour. Obviously people need to make a living but you have just paid alot of money for a what is a £20 sensor. I'd heard of this place in Telford as I'm up the road but after seeing this post I'd never go there.

The job is something you could do yourself for free with a £30 c110 scanner off ebay or similar diagnostic machine. If they had done a diagnostic check (basic mechanics) its really 1st thing a decent garage would do if not ripping you off knowing you will have to come back for further work. The ECU stores everything so this fault would have been logged on all the days it has appeared. They just rest the problem light that's the oldest trick in the book knowing full well it will come back on. Goldbcfc wrote:WOW you really got ripped off here not only did they not do a diagnostic the first time to even know the problem ie, abs sensor or pump fault etc. It's about as hard a job as topping up your oil up I'm sure theres even plenty of video to show you on youtube. You was well and truly robbed for a diy job you should be doing yourself really.
I actually have a spare abs sensor too on ebay for sale for £11.
